In case of an emergency – What everyone should have at home
Whether natural disaster or war. With this checklist for an important emergency kit, you will always be on the safe side. In addition, you will become a little health expert while reading this text. The knowledge imparted here will also bring you many advantages in everyday life. First and foremost, health and vitality.
It makes sense to copy this text, print it out and add it to your emergency kit so that it is always at hand. In the text, examples of use are given for certain preparations. You can highlight these in colour to avoid long searches when necessary.
Table of contents checklist
1. Emergency Medical Kit
A Medical emergency kit with scissors, tweezers, plasters, bandages, etc. is just as important as food supplies.
2. water
We take it for granted that we can get water from the tap at any time. This can change in times of crisis or even war. Therefore, a supply should be kept on hand. An adult person needs 1.5 litres daily. Add to this 0.5 litres of water for cooking. As a reserve, a portable water filter and a water whirler is not missing in any emergency kit.
Water is an information carrier. A water whirlpool is used to neutralise harmful information in the water. You can find an article worth knowing about this on the here.
Water purification of the simple kind
Water might come out of the tap, but in poor drinking quality. On sunny days, contaminated water can easily be purified and transformed into drinking quality. To do this, all you need is a 10-litre plastic or better glass container that is left in the sun for 4-6 hours. The dirt settles at the bottom of the container. The sun kills any harmful parasites and viruses in the water. The pure water can either be drawn up to approx. 2 centimetres above the bottom of the container directly by means of a hose, or a filling into a second container is carried out.
3. Vitamins & Minerals
Reference values can be obtained from the following organisations at:
If illnesses are presented, higher income is required, which should be taken into account as reserves in the calculation at 20%.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A is necessary for the growth and development of cells. the formation and development of cells and various tissues. The vitamin also plays an important role in vision.
Vitamin B3
Vitamin B3 (Niacin) is involved in more than 200 metabolic processes. Without niacin, neither the energy metabolism nor the nervous system functions. Mood and/or skin can also be damaged by a vitamin B3 deficiency.
Vitamin B9
Vitamin B9 (folic acid) is a precursor of the vitamin, which it converts into the water-soluble B vitamin folate. Folate supports vital metabolic functions such as blood formation and cell division. If folic acid is deficient, various cell division processes are disturbed. The most noticeable consequence is anaemia.
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin. The body needs it mainly for the formation of red blood cells, important neurotransmitters and new genetic material.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is an important vitamin in exceptional situations. It protects against many diseases or helps to heal them faster. A 5 KG package Vitamin C is enough for a family of four for 3 years.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium in the intestines for strong bones and teeth. It also affects muscle strength and contributes to normal immune system function. There is evidence that insufficient vitamin D intake increases the risk of acute respiratory infections.
As a food supplement, high-dose Vitamin D should always be supplemented with vitamin K2 as the two vitamins complement each other’s body functions. Vitamin D in combination with parathyroid hormone, increases the intestinal absorption of calcium.
Vitamin E
The body takes Vitamin E from dietary fat. Vitamin E is a cell-protecting vitamin. It protects the body’s cells from harmful influences such as aggressive oxygen compounds (free radicals). The protective function of vitamin E also has a targeted effect on fat metabolism.
Vitamin E works wonders on wounds. One drop of vitamin E with one drop of DMSO (25% solution) allows wounds to heal at hyper speed and leaves hardly any scars! Especially in times of crisis, increased physical activity can lead to increased wound formation. Vitamin E in combination with DMSO (further explanation below) should therefore not be missing from the emergency kit.
Vitamin H
Vitamin H is also known as vitamin B7 or Biotin. Biotin plays an important role in many processes in the body. For example, it ensures a smooth metabolism of fat, carbohydrates and proteins. Growth and communication between cells also depend on vitamin H. All these processes work on a super small level, but are very important for individual body tissue functions, such as skin, hair, blood or nerves.
Look for a preparation with Biotin in combination with zinc and selenium. The active ingredients biotin and zinc promote the maintenance of normal skin. The three active ingredients in combination lead to the maintenance of normal hair. Zinc and selenium contribute to the maintenance of normal nails and protect the cells from oxidative stress.
Vitamin K2
Vitamin K2 is largely responsible for calcium metabolism and keeps this mineral, which is so important for bones, in balance. Mit anderen Worten: Vitamin K2 helps calcium to penetrate the bones rather than the artery walls (and thus has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system).
Omega-3 fatty acids
In fact, Omega-3 fatty acids are of great importance for the human metabolism. They are the building blocks of our cell membranes and maintain the flexibility of the cell envelopes. They are also needed for the production of various tissue hormones (the body’s messenger substances).
Calcium
Calcium is an essential mineral, the most important in the human body. Calcium is almost 100% contained in bones and teeth and thus maintains bone and tooth stability. It is also an important factor in blood clotting and is necessary for the functioning of every cell in the body: It stabilises the cell walls, is involved in signal transmission in the cells and transmits stimuli in the nervous system (touch/sight/hearing) and the muscles.
How to obtain calcium from eggshells
You can easily obtain calcium from eggshells yourself. This not only provides you with a high-quality and virtually free dietary supplement. The complete utilisation of the egg including its “packaging” is perfectly ecological.
What do you need:
- As many eggshells from organic eggs as you could collect
- a pot
- eine Mühle
- a clean preserving jar or jam jar
Manufacture:
- Always collect eggshells when eating the eggs (wash thoroughly inside and out).
- Boil (at least 10 minutes)
- Leave to dry overnight
- Now grind the eggshells into a fine powder in the mill.
- Now pour the finished powder into the preserving jar or jam jar.
- Ready
You can consume a total of one teaspoon of eggshell powder per day. It contains up to 1000 mg of calcium. It is best to divide the daily amount into 2-3 servings. The powder can be mixed with water, juice or plant milk and taken. Or you can sprinkle some flour into your food and enrich it with valuable calcium.
Magnesium
Magnesium regulates a variety of biochemical reactions and cellular functions as it acts as a cofactor for more than 600 enzymes. It also influences bone health as a component of hydroxyapatite crystals (a major component of bone substance) and by activating osteoblast proliferation (the growth and multiplication of cells that form bone cells).
Sango Sea Coral
Adequate mineral coverage is provided by the Sango Sea Coral which is most beneficial in powder form. The body is able to produce the vitamins it needs with the minerals it receives! If you want to keep your emergency kit to a minimum, you can use Sango instead of building up vitamin reserves. Having both in stock is certainly more advantageous. If the decision is made to use only Sango, vitamin E for wound treatment should not be missing.
Sango Sea Coral 1 KG annual ration at 3 grams/day
OPC
OPC (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins) works in the body in three different ways. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is a very potent antioxidant plant substance, as it has much stronger antioxidant properties than vitamins C and E, for example.
Furthermore, it has been observed in humans that OPC has blood-thinning properties and thus helps the platelets not to stick together. Due to its vasodilating properties, the blood can flow better and there is less pressure on the vessels. For these reasons, it is used to lower blood pressure.
Zeolite
Zeolite is a master detoxifier. Finely ground mineral clay has several mechanisms by which it can eliminate toxins in the human body. Like a sponge, zeolite binds toxins: acids, heavy metals, intestinal gases, bacterial toxins, mycotoxins and many others, which usually increase in times of crisis and war.
4. Important Herbs & Spices
Turmeric
For turmeric to really have a beneficial effect on your body, you should not take too much of it. A daily amount of 3 grams is safe, but an overdose can lead to nausea or diarrhoea. Pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as people with gallstones should better not take turmeric.
Turmeric can be found in powder form but then together with a knife tip black pepper, or in capsule form can be taken. Black pepper increases the bioavailability.
Improvement of the cardiovascular system
Many research studies, e.g. those of the National Natural Scientific Research Structure of China, have been able to prove that turmeric can also have a beneficial effect on high cholesterol levels. In their studies, the scientists were able to prove that turmeric proactively contributes to lowering cholesterol levels.
Inflammations are minimised
Silent inflammations in particular are not recognisable at first glance, but have a massive influence on our well-being. Inflammations are promoted, for example, by insufficient training, an unhealthy diet, ecological factors and persistent stress situations. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric can help alleviate these complaints in the body (e.g. in the intestinal tract or in the form of arthritis or joint inflammation).
Strengthening the defences
Of course, you also strengthen your defences with turmeric! The bioactive ingredient curcumin helps the body develop certain T-cells that play an extremely important function in protecting against microorganisms. Curcumin forms a unique healthy protein that plays an important role in fighting germs and can protect against infections and stubborn diseases, which is why no emergency kit should be without it.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon has a firm place among herbal remedies. It is said to have a number of effects on health and well-being. Therefore, cinnamon is also called:
- disinfectant
- antispasmodic
- Promotes blood circulation
- relaxing
- mood-lifting
If needed, cinnamon is used as a home remedy especially for anorexia nervosa and also stomach problems such as flatulence, heartburn, unwanted flatulence as well as loosened bowels. Cinnamon is also said to have a healing effect on inflammation, rheumatism and also reduced back pain, colds, hoarseness and also malaise. Due to its mood-lifting effect, cinnamon is also said to help with mild psychological problems. In times of crisis and war, most people suffer from mental problems. A healthy pick-me-up like zinc is a good companion in such times.
In addition, research attributes cinnamon with various other effects on health and well-being. Cinnamon could help protect the heart by lowering triglycerides (a certain type of fat in our blood) and cholesterol levels. Due to its antioxidant properties, cinnamon can also protect the body from cell damage caused by free radicals.
During pregnancy, cinnamon should only be enjoyed with caution – its oil can induce labour. It is better for nursing mothers not to consume cinnamon.
In addition, cinnamon should not be taken by people taking medicines that can affect the liver, such as statins or paracetamol. In addition, you should not take cinnamon if you have an abscess in your abdomen or digestive tract.
Recommended intake: ½ teaspoon/day
Monk’s pepper
The effect of Monk’s Pepper has been medically confirmed for certain hormonal conditions. Numerous professional research studies show that monk’s pepper can relieve the signs of premenstrual disorder, which consists of breast stress, internal stress, frustrations as well as a reduced state of mind.
The dried monk’s peppers intervene in the control of menstruation. They act extremely similar to the body’s own chemical dopamine and can therefore reduce the release of the hormonal agent prolactin. In this way, they support the restoration of hormonal balance.
For menstrual cramps, 40 mg of monk’s pepper extract should be taken daily, likewise if fertility is to be increased. During the menopause, an intake of 40 mg to 80 mg has proven to be effective.
Monk’s pepper is not suitable for men. Pregnancy and breastfeeding also speak against taking monk’s pepper, as the hormone-regulating effect of the medicinal plant can lead to problems.
salt
Sodium chloride, better known as common salt, is an important mineral for our body. It regulates the water balance and tissue tension and is the basis for the excitability of nerves and muscles. As a mineral, salt plays an important role in bone formation and digestion.
If you have too little of this element in your body, it can damage your brain and muscles. Sodium transmits nerve impulses to cells throughout the body. It relays impulses to move to the muscles. So it is involved in making your heart beat or you move.
The salt content in the human body is 0.9 per cent, or about 200 grams. Without salt, the water balance in and around the cells would collapse. We need at least 500 mg of sodium per day to survive, which corresponds to three grams of salt.
The WHO recommendations of a maximum of 5 g/day are now scientifically outdated. New studies show that when salt intake is too low, the occurrence of heart attacks, strokes and mortality has been observed. The result: Only a very high salt intake of more than 12 grams per day was associated with cardiovascular diseases and strokes.
The best: Natural Primal Rock Salt
Rock salt is extracted from salt mines. Once there was a primordial sea. It dried out and persisted under the earth for millions of years – free of pollution and pollutants until it was finally discovered by man. Conventional table salt is usually made from rock salt.
However, rock salt is also offered unprocessed and natural. Then it has a greyish colour – in contrast to the pure white Ariel appearance of table salt. This is due to the absence of bleaching and purification processes and is an indication of naturalness.
Important notice
You should only keep high quality salt in your emergency kit as it contains many natural minerals. Refined salt is not recommended.
In times of crisis, it is a good idea to clean your teeth with high-quality salt or Soda Bicarbonate (baking soda). Health-conscious people brush their teeth exclusively with these agents, which always look clean, well-groomed and healthy. In addition, cleaning the mouth with these agents has the advantage of killing many pathogens, which cannot enter the body or can enter in reduced numbers. This relieves the body’s defences so that they have more energy available to fight other physical ailments.
5. Other Important Means
DMSO
DMSO (dimethyl sulphoxide) has an anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antioxidant, antimicrobial and wound healing effect. Dimethyl sulphoxide has an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antioxidant effect. DMSO is also made up of sulphur. This element is released in your body by enzymes. The advantage is that this increases your body’s antioxidant capacity.
The liquid material is considered effective and helpful for the following complaints:
- Relaxes the muscle mass
- Scavenges free radicals
- Relieves various pains
- Prevents inflammation
- Supports the autonomic nervous system
- Promotes healing of injuries and restores cells
- Increases oxygen saturation and provides cell protection
- Smoothes scars
Numerous diseases can be successfully treated with DMSO. This remedy has proven itself in the following treatments, among others:
- Hand as well as knee joint inflammations (generally joint inflammations)
- Swelling and bruises
- Circulatory disorders
- Inflammations
- Strains
- Sports injuries
- Stress
DMSO is available in ready-made sprays, lotions, Gelen and creams or drop available in various percentages, or you can purchase it with Make your own DMSO in 99.9% pharmaceutical purity. You can find out how to do this hier.
If you make the preparation yourself, it is important that the material always remains liquid so that it can be used efficiently. Always keep the item protected from light and sealed.
hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide miracle cure: How you can use the natural all-purpose remedy to bring your house, cosmetics and medicine cabinet up to scratch at low cost – including various application options and instructions.
In practice, it seems like the egg-laying pig of medicine: an incomparably inexpensive, non-patentable remedy available in all pharmacies, which is effective against fungi, micro-organisms as well as infections, knows no resistance and also breaks down directly into simple, common substances.
Few people seem to know that there is an active ingredient that is positively evaluated in both cases: It has been known for over 100 years. Thousands of research studies prove its effect against a multitude of diseases, and with an “official scientific treatise” it is also offered without prescription in pharmacies. The following problem is different: people actually seem to have neglected how cost-effective and flexible the drug really is, because Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is available in neighbourhood pharmacies only in really small quantities, intended for a small range of uses – cleaning injuries.
Yet it can do so much more:
Skin diseases
Solution strength: 3.5 % solution, occasionally 1 % is sufficient.
In case of severe local infections: 10 % solution
Use for: Insect infestation; allergic reactions, also to plants; scratchy dermatitis; psoriasis; herpes; pustules in chicken pox; acne; microbial as well as fungal infections.
After spraying on the affected areas, applying DMSO in 25% solution has a supportive effect.
Dental and oral diseases
Solution strength: 3.5 % solution
Application: Wash (better rinse) twice a day for 2 minutes after brushing your teeth (mainly with high quality salt or soda bicarbonate), then spit it out. Use the remedy for a few weeks until the signs and symptoms have disappeared.
Genital infections
Solution strength: 3.5 % solution
Application: Apply a soaked cotton ball once or twice a day. As a rule, the water-attenuated option in appropriate components (1.5 percent) is sufficient for therapy.
Respiratory
Solution strength: A 1 % solution is usually sufficient; 3.5 % is rarely required.
Application: Spray with the spray container twice a day or every 2 hours in severe cases. In any case, exhale first and then use 6 sprays.
Use for: Respiratory diseases, pharyngitis, laryngitis and tonsillitis, treatment and therapy of influenza. Improvement of breathing has been reported in bronchial asthma and also in persistent obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In addition, a 0.5 to 1 % solution (pleasant to the hand) is used for intense and also persistent rhinitis, and safe sneezing may also occur.
Circulatory disorders and also fungal diseases
Application: For professional athlete’s foot, make a foot bath once a day with 3.5% solution for 20 minutes without various other ingredients. For fungal infections on various other areas of the skin, spray on a 3.5 % solution twice a day or use cotton wool and let it dry completely.
Application for circulatory disorders in the legs: here you can apply a 3.5 – or 10 % solution. The solution dries automatically afterwards. If you use ten percent peroxide, spray only every second day.
osteoarthritis, heart disease and also fatigue
Application: Twice daily 0.5 grams of magnesium peroxide, as a commercial product foamed in water.
Preparations
Preparation of a 1% solution: mix 2 parts of water (distilled or from the tap, the water must not contain chlorine) with one part of the 3% peroxide.
Preparation of a 3% solution: mix 7 parts of water (distilled or from the tap, the water must not contain chlorine) with 3 parts of a 10% agent. The 3% solution can also be prepared by diluting one part of a 30% solution with 9 parts of water. If you are interested in other applications, you can learn more about hydrogen peroxide here.
Iodine
Functional treatment – Disinfecting, growth-promoting, hormone-regulating: Iodine is a true multi-talent. Already hundreds of years ago, algae – from which iodine is extracted – were used for recovery. Pregnant women and also people with thyroid diseases are particularly dependent on the effect of the micronutrient. Iodine from algae were used to treat injuries many thousands of years ago. The healing effect of iodine is still used today.
Iodine tincture is an antibacterial disinfectant. It is effective against many bacteria that can cause infections and inflammations on the skin. It is important for development, bone formation and brain development, especially in the prenatal period and in infants and children.
According to records, people with goitre were treated with ash from sea sponges or algae as early as 1,500 BC. However, researchers only succeeded in proving that the thyroid gland actually needs iodine towards the end of the 19th century. It “crafts” its active hormone thyroxine from it.
6. Nutrition
Nuts
Many types of nuts rot after a few weeks when light, air and moisture get to them. They last longest when well vacuum-packed. Bags for weekly rations can be made with a household vacuum sealer. It is better to make several small bags than a few large ones. With the large ones, once opened, a rotting nut can make the entire contents inedible. This can also happen with the small pouches, but you lose less. In times of crisis, high-quality food is very valuable. You want to throw away as little as possible!
A good Vacuum cleaner is already available from 40 EUR. It can be used again and again in the kitchen. Buy professional quality bags that have a high tensile strength of at least 150 µm. When nuts break, sometimes sharp edges are created that tear open weak bags. If air gets into the bag, the nuts will start to spoil after a few days.
Oils
Stock up on various high-quality oils in organic quality. They are rarely used for frying in times of crisis, but are added to dishes in cold form. This preserves the nutrients that are important for the body and the body has more energy available.
Food supplies
Space is of the essence when it comes to emergency food reserves. This means they should contain as much nutrients & energy and take up as little storage space as possible.
With a Dehydrator you can preserve fruits, vegetables, herbs, meat and even fish for many years in a space-saving way. After drying, store in jars in an airtight container and protected from light. If you want to prepare a dish, simply take what you need out of the jars the day before. Place the ingredients in a glass or ceramic bowl, which you fill with water one centimetre above the ingredients. The dehydrated food will soak up the water almost completely, bringing it back to life. For the preparation of your dish, you should also use the excess water, as it contains many vitamins and minerals.
The prepared fruit and vegetables do not taste like they do from the fresh market. Prepared well, they can nevertheless be used to make delicious dishes.
Drying is the simplest and cheapest way to produce emergency rations for many years. Dehydrated food is preferable to cooked food because it is more nutritious, which is of elementary importance in times of crisis.
Dehydrated potatoes are a good substitute for flour in times of crisis!
Seeds & Germs
Sprout pulling is one of the easiest ways to provide your body with protein, essential minerals, enzymes, trace elements and vitamins. Buy different seeds that you can grow into sprouts within 4-6 days if needed. Lentils, beans, chickpeas, flaxseed, and anything organic legumes offered in the supermarket are the cheapest. Seed packets stored in a drawer or suitcase away from light and moisture will last for decades.
In times of war, salads can be hard to come by. Sprouts provide an optimal substitute for this. They can be added to the dish, creating a tastier and more intense flavour. Pleasing the palate in times of crisis is a special luxury. This is quite easy with the addition of sprouts.
You can pull sprouts very easily. All you need is a plate or bowl and paper towels. Dampen two paper towels completely with water. Place one layer on the plate and spread the seeds on it. The second paper towel is used to cover the seeds. Place the plate either in the refrigerator or on the windowsill. The paper towels must be moistened daily until germination.
It is easier with a sprout box or in a Sprout jar!
fish
In times of extreme crisis, it is always advantageous to have different types of fish in tins or in oil (jars) in stock. They can be kept for a very long time. In addition, tasty dishes can be conjured up that also provide the body with important nutrients.
For the comfortable: Emergency food BP ER when you want it to be easy
If you don’t have the time or the inclination to create your own emergency reserves, you can use the Emergency food BP ER from the Norwegian company Compact Rieber.
Equipment for power outages
In the event of a long-term power cut, the lack of electricity can be really inconvenient. Not only the light depends on electrical energy. The heating, the kitchen and the connection to the outside world also do not work without electrical energy.
When disruptions occur over which you have no direct control and which can affect your power supply, you need to be prepared. In the event of a real blackout, it can last several days or even weeks. With the right emergency tools, you can get through the times much better.
Solar generator for your own electricity generation
If you need an independent emergency power supply for your home, you cannot avoid purchasing a generator to produce electricity. You can choose between diesel generators, solar generators or wind generators.
Small solar generators for absolute basic needs can be purchased very cheaply these days. And with one of the most varied power outputs. In contrast to diesel generators, solar generators are absolutely noiseless (apart from the quiet whirring of the fan at higher power requirements).
A small flat can get by with a 500-watt unit in times of crisis. A house needs a minimum of one 1. 000 Watt device.
Instead of a compact device, you can also put together a small network consisting of solar panels, voltage converter and batteries together.
Setting up solar-powered energy using compact devices can be done on one’s own, and no fuel is needed, which is easy on both the wallet and the environment. In addition, fuel may be hard to come by in times of crisis. The emergency power supply of your house by means of a solar generator is noiseless, environmentally friendly and also after the one-time purchase without additional costs (solar power is free of charge).
Food preparation
With a gas-powered camping stove that is easy to store and transport. You can use it to prepare smaller dishes without any problems. You can find ideal gas cartridges for changing in any DIY store.A garden or table barbecue that runs on charcoal or gas can additionally be used for preparing food without electric power. However, you should only cook outdoors or with the windows wide open, indoors there is a danger of suffocation!
Light
A supply of candles and torches as well as batteries, spare lamps, matches or lighters belong in every emergency kit. Particularly suitable are crank flashlights with which you can generate light by turning, with a suitable device, cranking can also charge a mobile phone battery or operate a radio. Solar and battery-powered LED lights are sustainable and flexible.
With solar-powered battery chargers can charge batteries or rechargeable batteries even during a power cut.
Concluding Remarks
It is up to each reader to decide to what extent he or she compiles his or her emergency kit. One for a short bridging period in the event of a natural disaster is smaller, but should contain the most important utensils. If you want to be on the safe side and be well equipped for several months to years in the event of war, you should put together a large emergency kit.
